PURPOSE: To reduce number of components of a terminal equipment and to attain the system with excellent affinity with an existing LAN environment by fusing a multimedia communication technology of a LAN base with a digital CATV. CONSTITUTION: In the polling control of a communication controller 2 sending a terminal request from a multimedia terminal equipment 11 to a multimedia server 3, a request from all terminal equipments 11 is required to be sent to the server 3 by using one channel. When each terminal equipment 11 sends a request in a CATV network at random, requests of the terminal equipments 11 are collided with each other to disable normal transmission. Thus, polling control is conducted. Thus, polling control information sent by the communication controller 2 to a 1st LAN and multimedia data sent by the server 3 through plural 2nd LANs are merged by a LAN switch 4, only an output signal on n-sets of 3rd LANs is extracted and data of the 3rd LAN are sent in one direction to receive multimedia data in the LAn protocol form, then resources of the existing LAn environment are utilized effectively. |
