<p>PURPOSE: To prevent the appearance of fade in a brake device due to an unexpected steering operation during the operation of an automatic brake as well as due to the operation thereof over a long time, regarding a vehicular travel speed control device using an operation member for controlling a travel speed (including brake control) on the basis of an established and inputted target travel speed. CONSTITUTION: When a non-operation state (or when a driver has no active intention to keep an established target speed or set a new target speed) is detected with a pressure sensor 20 fitted to the handle 12c of an operation member 12 at a travel speed control process, brake control is interrupted to achieve a target. When the non-operation state is detected, a motor 22 is driven to move the member 12 to a position corresponding to a real travel speed. As a result, when a manual operation is started to release the interrupted state of brake control, the member 12 is always kept at a position corresponding to the real travel speed, and crew can be protected from feeling a physical disorder due to the sudden deceleration of a vehicle, upon resumig the brake control.</p> |
