The device is specially designed for guiding blind (sightless) persons, so its operation is based on the emission and reception of ultrasonic information (ultrasounds) which indicate the location of objects to the user by means of two sound generators. Its purpose is to provide totally safe guiding by detecting existing objects, including those at ground level, such as holes, changes in level (unevenness), etc. It has a sensor video 5 which is connected via an analogue/digital converter to a microprocessor 1 for detecting the image emitted by the bodies in the visible infrared spectrum, determining the temperature and colour of the obstacles. The analogue/digital converter 2 is connected to two tone receivers 3 and the microprocessor 1 is connected to a tone generator 4 and the latter to the tone emitter 6 and to two sound generators 7 which may be voice synthesizers in order to provide encoded or spoken information about the location of objects. It is applicable to the detection of persons or objects in the dark and may incorporate a radiofrequency receiver for receiving external signals which indicate, for example, the status of a traffic light. <IMAGE>
