Electric heating element with collar on terminal to lock connector

The electric heating element (1) has a wire embedded in a magnesia material inside a metal tube. The end of the tube is closed with a cap (2). A cylindrical connecting terminal (3) projects from the cap. The terminal has a bevelled end to allow easy fitting of a press-on connector. The terminal has a neck (3a) machined near its outer end. The connector has inward facing tongues (4a). The tongues are positioned so they are easily deflected over the head of the terminal as the connector is pressed onto the terminal. The tongues spring into the neck of the terminal in the final position, so they catch behind the lip (3b) at the outer end of the neck if an attempt is made to pull the connection away from the terminal.
