FIELD: industrial fillers. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to producing calcium sulfate-base light fillers. Method involves modifying technical gypsum treated with calcium-containing compound in air or an aqueous medium with synthetic fatty acids at amount 0.5-5.0 wt.-% of gypsum mass for 5-90 min. Synthetic fatty acids of C-C-fraction or vat residues of their manufacture were used. Drying process is carried out at ≅ 95 C. Obtained light filler shows high whiteness (81-95.5%) and low moisture content (0.1-0.45%) and these indices were stable for time.
