FRICTION COUPLING FOR SYNCHRONISATION DEVICES IN GEAR CHANGE BOXES

The synchronisation ring (1) and/or coupling ring (2) of a synchronisation device for gear change boxes is made of an iron material with a wear-resistant surface. Ferritic or austenitic steels with a high chromium content and an at least 20 mu m thick carbide-rich area containing at least 30 % by volume carbides in its superficial layer are used. A friction coupling is thus obtained whose friction surfaces have low abrasive/adhesive wear.
