The cab and doors (8,9) together are designed as a safety cell round driver and passenger. Front (3), rear and sides (6,7) are reinforced and stiffened by press-imposed profiling of their inside and outside sheets and partial additional reinforcement by strip profiles. Reinforcement and stiffening run all round at three different levels, notably at the bottom level (16) at the cab floor transition and at top level (17) where the cab joints the roof and again at chest level (18) below the windscreen. This is supplemented by vertical reinforcing planes, firstly at hinge pillars (19,20), then at lock pillars (21,22) and finally at the corner pillars (23,24) and at one pillar (15) in the rear wall of the cab. The reinforced and stiffened areas are connected to one another in part permanently and otherwise releasably so as to complete a wall-integrated bracing framework which includes the doors, using suitably reinforced centre level as well as stiffened floor and roof to required outline. |
