<p>The present invention relates to a laundry bleaching composition comprising a peroxy compound present in an effective amount to cause bleaching; a manganese-containing bleach catalyst present in an effective amount to activate the peroxy compound; characterized in that the compositions further contain an agent capable of binding manganese which molecule contains at least 3 nitrogen atoms or at least 2 nitrogen atoms and an oxygem atom, in a molar ratio to the bleach catalyst of from 0.2:1 to 500:1, preferably 1:1 to 250:1, and that, the composition further contains from 0.01 to 2% of a metal ion selected from magnesium, calcium, strontium, zinc and aluminium, and/or the manganese-containing bleach catalyst and the agent capable of binding manganese are present as an intimate mixture; preferred manganese-binding agents include diethylene triamine penta (methylene phosphonic acid), diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid, and diethylenetriamine.</p> |
