<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an ATM cell processing unit which is provided with a configuration to improve its function attended with progress of the standardization and where its function is added by adding new hardware to its existing hardware resource. CONSTITUTION: The processing unit is made up of a header processing function section 20 rewriting a header to a received ATM cell while converting the format between the ATM cell received/outputted at an interface point and the ATM cell exchanged by an ATM switch and up of an ATM cell branch function section 30 which receives all ATM cells received by the header processing function section 20 and decides whether or not the received ATM cell is to be branched to a microprocessor based on preset information and instructs the header processing function section 20 to abort the ATM cell when the ATM cell is branched to the microprocessor.</p> |
