PURPOSE: To prevent scarring at the time of cutting the electrifying layer of a developer regulating member and the peeling of the electrifying layer, at the time of consecutively using by setting the electrifying layer thickness and point angle of the developer regulating member in relation represented by a specific expression. CONSTITUTION: The electrifying layer 12 as the contact surface side of the developer regulating member with a developer carrier is made shorter than a rubber elastic layer 13 as a noncontact side, a point is oblique and the electrifying layer thickness (t) and the point angle (a) are optimized in accordance with the hardness of the electrifying layer as a coat 12. In other words, the Rockwell hardness (R) k of the layer 12, an angle a deg. and the coat thickness of the electrifying layer tμm are set so as to satisfy two relational expressions of 30<=a<=0.24k+58.6 and 16.9-0.12k-0.033a<=t<=45.7-0.12k. When the developer regulating member is manufactured in a coating/cutting method, the cutting area of the layer 12 is made larger as the point angle is made smaller, a frictional area with a cutting blade at the time of cutting is large and the cut area of the layer 12 is pulled by the cutting blade, so that the occurrence of the scarring of the cut area is easy. The occurrence of the scarring is not easier as the angle of the layer 12 is larger. |
