PURPOSE: To enhance hue, and image fastness in parts low in density, and resistance to cyan color fog due to processing and to improve fluctuation of color development density due to fluctuation of the composition of a processing solution. CONSTITUTION: This photosensitive material contains the coupler represented by the formula in which when Za is -N=, Zb is -C(EWG)=, and when Za is -C(EWG), Zb is -N=; EWG is an electron attracting group having aσP of 0.30-1.0; R1 is a substituent having aσP of <0.20; X is an II atom or a substituent; and Y is an H atom or a substituent.
