PURPOSE: To provide a method which enables increase in the value of prize while maintaining the profit of a game, by storing a reel stop position combination into a tree structure to use a random number generating function in a slot machine, in which a plurality of reels are turned when a coin is slotted and a handle is pulled, and a prize is offered according to the combination of symbols when the reels are stopped. CONSTITUTION: Possible combinations of reel stop position symbols are allotted to extreme end node points of a lookup table stored into a ROM 34 in the form of a branched tree chart. In the tree chart, there are one main hierarchy, a plurality of lower-order hierarchies and a plurality of extreme end nodes. A number of entries exist following the lower-order hierarchies or the extreme end nodes in each hierarchy. Upon the start of a game, a random number generator of a microprocessor 26 is used to select an entry at random on each hierarchy until the final end node is selected. Then, the combinations of symbols allotted to the selected extreme end node are displayed at 30 and 32 on paying lines and a prize is paid based on a prize list. |
