PURPOSE: To increase operating speed and density further by arranging specific first and second interconnection layers and user-organizable interconnection elements on a semiconductor substrate containing a two-dimensional array of a functional circuit. CONSTITUTION: This user-organizable circuit array architecture has two-dimensional arrays of functional circuits 12 disposed on the inside of a semiconductor substrate 10, first interconnection layers, which are arranged on the semiconductor substrate 10 including a plurality of first conductors connected in the first direction, at least part of which are connected directly to the adjacent functional circuits in the circuits 12. Second interconnection layers which are disposed on the first interconnection layers includes a plurality of second conductors connected in the second direction, at least part of which form intersections with part of the first conductors, and at least a part of the intersections are arranged directly in the functional circuits 12, and a plurality of user-organizable interconnection elements are disposed among the first and second interconnection layers at the selected intersections. |
