PURPOSE: To provide a voice encoding device stably improved in throughout. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a linear transformation section 50 for linear-tranoforming an input signal Si with the prescribed block length Sb, a FFT section 10 preforming high speed Fourier transform of the input signal Si with large and small two kinds of different block length, a block length setting section 20 which calculates the prescribed block length Sb to be set to the linear transformation section 50 based on a FFT signal transformed and generated in the FFT section 10 and sets it to the linear transformation section 50, and a encoding section 80 for encoding an intermediate signal Sm transformed and generated in the linear transformation section 50 and forming and outputting a bit string So. Then, the FFT 10 is provided with a FFT selecting function which selects block length used for high speed Fourier transform out of large and small two kinds of different block length based on a gain difference of continued signals out of input signals Si. |
