PURPOSE: To provide high sealing performance during a time starting from the initial stage of use and ending to the end of a life by a method wherein a region having rigidity different from that of other part is formed in a screw- shape on the slide surface of the seal lip. CONSTITUTION: An oil seal 2, serving as a sealing device, sliding between a shaft and the oil seal is vulcanization-molded by using a rubbery resilient substance. The oil seal comprises an outer peripheral cylindrical fitting-in part 5 securely pressed in a housing hole; and a plate part 6 extending from the end part on the atmosphere side of the fitting-in part 4 to the inner side. The inside of the plate part 6 is divided into two sections of one being a main lip 8 obliquely folded to the seal fluid side and the other being a die strip 10 obliquely extending to the atmosphere side. A reinforcing ring 20 made of a metal is embedded in the oil seal 2, a spring 30 is mounted on the main lip 8, and a high degree of crosslink region 50 having rigidity higher than that of the other part is formed in a screw-form manner on the slide surface 12 of the main lip 8. |
