FIELD: power engineering; cooling systems of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: to improve reliability and durability and reduce overall dimensions of thermostat (with preservation of its flow capacity) used in thermostat of engine liquid cooling system is swirl valve which is essentially an adjustable hydraulic resistance without movable mechanical members. Novelty is analog control of heat dissipation by redistribution of flows through radiator and bypass pipe of cooling system.
