HELICOBACTER PYLORI-COLONIZED MONGOLIAN GERBIL, PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF, MEDIUM FOR SEPARATING HELICOBACTER PYLORI, AND METHOD OF SCREENING ANTI-HELICOBACTER PYLORI-ACTIVE SUBSTANCE BY USING THE SAME

A Helicobacter pylori-colonized Mongolian gerbil is prepared by perorally administering to a Mongolian gerbil a culture medium obtained by the liquid culture of Helicobacter pylori to make the same colonize in the stomach of the gerbil. The obtained gerbil model is useful for screening drugs for the therapeutic effect on Helicobacter pylori and for clarifying human pathological conditions caused by Helicobacter pylori. A medium for separating Helicobacter pylori containing vancomycin, trimethoprim, amphotericin B, polymixin B and 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride can detect selectively and efficiently Helicobacter pylori with which Mongolian gerbils colonized with gastric microorganisms have been infected. The combination of the gerbil model with the separatory medium permits the screening of anti-Helicobacter pylori-active substances on an animal level and the estimation of accurate clinical effects of the substances.
