The apparatus manages optimally the temperature of preserving the warm cooked rice within the kettle by controlling the thermal distribution by considering the temperature difference between the floor and the side wall of the rice cooking kettle. The apparatus comprises: a sensor(20) detecting the variation of the thermal preservation temperature; a sensor(60) detecting the ambient temperature around the kettle; a comparator(30) generating a heating control signal by determining if a side wall heater driver(40) and a floor heater driver(50) are driven or not based on the signals from the sensors(20,60); a variable drive controller(70) sending a drive frequency signal for the comparator(30) according to the ambient temp. sensor(60) in order to compensate the effect caused by the ambient temperature.
