<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that an OCV is moved up to a large degree beyond a desired position at an instant by large current-carrying amount for removing forge in matter entered into the OCV intending to increase opening amount of a hydraulic control valve when the foreign matter is released, in an opening/closing control of the hydraulic control valve as a cleaning control to release the foreign matter during vehicle driving and thereby valve timing is remarkably changed due to unexpected application of hydraulic pressure to a valve timing mechanism to be improper valve timing for an operating state of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A driving state detecting means detects a state when phase and lift amount of the valve timing mechanism are not changed, irrespective of OCV being driven. At this time, the cleaning control is performed by current- carrying to the OCV in an ECU. As a result, controllability of the valve timing mechanism can be early recovered without making phase and lift amount of the valve timing mechanism improper.</p> |
