PURPOSE: To obtain an ink jet recorder provided with a recovery system that can discharge unwanted bubbles out of a recording head by a simple construction without wastefully consuming ink and obtain a method for recovering the ink delivery function of the recording head. CONSTITUTION: An ink jet recorder is provided with a recovery system 21 comprising a cap member 7 capping an ink delivery surface 2A of a recording head 2, a piston member 14 for sucking and pressing ink, a cylinder 13, a trap chamber 12 disposed on the suction side of the cylinder 13 so as to communicate thereto for discharging a bubble 10 from the sucked ink, and an opening and closing valve body 15 extended from the piston member 14 for interrupting the suction side 13A of the cylinder 13 from a trap chamber 12. |
