PURPOSE: To orient the C-axis directions of the recrystallized structure of an R2 T14 type intermetallic compd. in a certain direction and to impart superior magnetic characteristics by adding a specified metal to an R-Fe-B alloy and subjecting the resultant alloy to hydrogen occlusion treatment. CONSTITUTION: This stock alloy is an R-T-M-A alloy consisting of R (rare earth elements including Y), T (Fe or Fe with Co and Ni substd. for part of Fe), M (B or B with C substd. for part of B), A (one or more among Al, Ga, Si, Ti, V, Cr, Zn, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta and W) and inevitable impurities. The structure of this alloy contains composite particles each consisting of a 1st phase and a rim-shaped 2nd phase enclosing the 1st phase in the matrix in a dispersed state. The 1st phase is made of granular hydride of R having 0.002-20μm average particle diameter and the 2nd phase is an R- and T-contg. phase having a lower concn. of R than the 1st phase and a lower concn. of T than the matrix. |
