Weaving machine in which the weft is inserted by two grippers (10, 11) simultaneously introduced into the shed (4) from each side of said machine, the pick being beaten by a reed carried by a batten (12). Said grippers (10, 11) and said batten (12) are controlled by two electric motors (15, 16) located on either side of the machine. Each motor (15, 16) drives a machine shaft (17, 18) controlling the means (10, 11) for inserting the weft and the housing (13, 14), which carries the batten frame (3) located on the same side. Both motors (15, 16) are supplied in parallel by one or more frequency converters (30) and are linked together by synchronizing means.
