The method involves deriving a control error from a comparison of a demand value and an actual value of the revolution rate. A controller specifies a control value for a power control element (100) according to the control error. Precontrol and/or raising of the demand value are performed and can be weighted using a weighting factor (F).The weighting factor can be defined depending on the control error. The precontrol and/or raising of the demand value can be performed depending on the revolution rate. The weighting factor can be large for small control errors and small for large control errors during precontrol.
