The coating equipment consists of a non-magnetic layer carrier and at least one magnetic dispersion applied to it. The dispersion is exposed to a magnetic field immediately prior to application of the layer carrier, with the magnetic field strength of the magnetic field at least equal to the coercive force of the define particle magnetic pigment in a polymer binder matrix of the magnetic dispersion, and in which the dispersions are applied by means of a pourer slot (2). To produce single-layer thicknesses of less than 1 mu.m, a square-shaped magnet (8) is arranged in the bottom lip adjacent to its top edge (12) of the slot (2) parallel to the pouring slot mouth (7) with the magnet field lines normal to the direction of flow of the magnetic dispersion.
