Process for monitoring the biological activity of industrial and communal packing and filling materials still contg. organic substances which are active after storage and esp. release gases is novel in that the NADH fluorescence of the microorganisms is determined and recorded, and this measurement is repeated at predetermined intervals and compared with the preceding values.Also claimed is the instrument for carrying out the above process, novel in that NADH fluorescence measuring probes (6,7) are assigned to the packing material and are additionally equipped with light detectors (20) and microprocessors (21) to convert the light into electrical signals.
