PURPOSE: To restrain noise and vibration in an automatic document feeder in a counting mode. CONSTITUTION: In the counting mode in which a document P is counted, the document P is carried in a roughly reading mode, and carried without being stopped at a reading position (or in the minimum stopping time even if the document is stopped). Thus, the noise and the vibration in the feeder are restrained by consecutively carrying the document P without stopping the carrying means F1 and F2 (or in the shortest stopping time). In the counting mode, the document P is carried in the roughly reading mode which is as high speed as the device can, thereby shortening the circulating time of the document P. |
