PURPOSE: To obtain an animal feed composition which contains a specified acidgenic compound to keep the pH value of the excrement of an animal from neutrality to acidity and to be useful for restricting and preventing the emission of ammonia. CONSTITUTION: The effective quantity of at least one kind of an acidgenic compound which is selected from a lysine, benzoic acid(salt), the alkaline earth metal salt of mineral acid and the ammonium salt of carboxylic acid so as to keep the pH value of the excrement of the animal which is fed to be 7 or equal to below 7 for at least 24 hours is contained. When 10-50 wt.% of the calcium carbonate of the animal feed which contains about 7-8 wt.% calcium carbonate is exchanged with acidgenic calcium salt such as calcium salt, phosphoric acid and sulphuric salt, etc., the pH value of the excrement is reduced to be within the range of 6.3-6.9. |
