PURPOSE: To decrease the angle dependency of contrast and display color of a liquid crystal cell in a wide temp. range by orienting a liquid crystal compsn. which shows a cholesteric phase and contains polymerizable liquid crystal oligomers having a specified structure, and then polymerizing the oriented compsn. CONSTITUTION: The helical axis in a twisted nematic orientation is parallel to the normal line direction of the film. The film thickness d(μm) and the helical pitch P(μm) in the twisted nematic phase satisfy d>=3×P and P<=0.3μm or P>=0.8μm. The liquid crystal compsn. shows a cholesteric phase and contains one or more kinds of liquid crystal oligomers selected from among straight-chain or cyclic liquid crystal oligomers having structural units expressed by formula I and formula II as the main structural units. Further, when the number of the repeating units of the formula I and the formula II in one molecule of the liquid crystal oligomer are defined as n and n' respectively, n and n' are integers of 1 to 20, 4<=n+n'<=21 and n:n'=(20:1) to (1:20). The terminal groups of the repeating unit of the formula II of the liquid crystal oligomer are polymerized.
