LABEL/WINDOW POSITION DETECTING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To detect the position of a label even when the reflection factor of a background is equal to the reflection factor of the label. CONSTITUTION: Photoelectric detectors 2A and 2B detect the passing of postal matter 3 which is conveyed on a conveyor 1. A control part 6 controls a label head position detection part 5 and a label tail position detection part 5R on the basis of detection signals from the photoelectric detectors 2A and 2B. The label head position detection part 5F photoelectrically converts an image obtained with the light irradiating the postal matter 3 from a projection part 51F by a linear image sensor 53F through a lens 52F, converts it into a binary image signal by an image processing part 54F, and then calculates label tip position coordinate values by a coordinate calculation part 55F. The label trail position detection part 5R is of the same constitution with the label head position detection part 5F.
