PURPOSE: To provide the map display device which is convenient to carry by altering display switching on the basis of the output of a power source detecting means or altering display direction switching according to a difference in mode. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a control means 2 which determines a display direction through a current place detecting means 1 detecting a current place and a display means 5 which displays the current place, etc., through the control means 2. Then a power source detecting means 3 which detects whether or not there is an external power source alters the display switching of a display means 5 based through the control means 2. In another way, the display direction switching of the display means 5 is altered through the control means 2 according to the difference of modes at the time of carrying mode and fixing mode. The display direction switching is altered through the control means 2 according to whether or not electric power is supplied from the external power source or through mode selection for a way of using, so that such specific operation that the direction inversion becomes slower when the device is carried than when the device is mounted on a vehicle. |
