PURPOSE: To provide the electronic musical instrument which widens the section range of a timbre to be replaced by regarding only timbres corresponding to a variation as objects of replacement and selecting objects of replacement which were effective in the past at the time of replacement. CONSTITUTION: When the timbre that received timbre selection information indicates is a timbre that this machine does not have, the replacement of the timbre corresponding to the timbre selection information is not performed and the setting of a timbre which was effective before is used as it is. Further, when timbre selection information indicating replacement with a 1st candidate timbre and timbre selection information indicating replacement with a 2nd candidate timbre are received and a sound can not be generated with the 2nd candidate timbre, the timbre is replaced with the 1st candidate timbre and the sound is generated. Further, when the timbre selection information is sent to another electronic musical instrument, a 2nd timbre which can substitute for the 1st candidate to replace is selected, and the timbre selection information for the 1st timbre is sent after the timbre selection information for the 2nd candidate is sent. |
