<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system having a node unit in an IP/WDM network which can add an additional path without predicting a traffic quantity for the node unit for adding or deleting the path independently from each other and asynchronously and avoids conditions in which the additional paths selected by a transmission side node unit and a reception side node unit do not coincide. <P>SOLUTION: In the transmission side node unit, the additional path includes optical delay lines of the number i corresponding to a sequence i for adding the additional path. In the reception side node unit, an initial path includes optical delay lines of the number n corresponding to the number n of the added additional paths. The additional path includes the optical delay lines of the number (n-i) obtained by subtracting the number i corresponding to the sequence i for adding the additional path from the number n of the added additional path.
