Apparatus and process for creating and accessing a database centric object

A computer system that uses object oriented technology to provide an interface to a database centric object. The system includes a processor (135) running an application program and a storage device (145) storing database data. An interface apparatus for interfacing the application program and the database includes an object (100) including a method which performs an input/output function on the database. The interface receives a first signal from the application program, the first signal corresponding to the object (100) and receives a second signal from the application program, the second signal corresponding to the method. The interface reads or writes data from or to the storage device and thereby executes the input/output function of the method on the database data in response to the receipt of the first and second signal.
