Dia. measuring gauge for use on grinding machines

The gauge consists of a pair of jaws (20,30) which can be moved along a support (14) to measure the dia. of a workpiece (W). One or more sensors (50) which are mounted at the end of one of the jaws are used to assess the surface finish of the workpiece. The sensors do not make contact with the workpiece.Probes are mounted at the end of each jaw which make contact with the surface of the workpiece. The sensor (50) are mounted close to a probe nearer the end of a jaw. The distance between the probes, i.e. the diameter of the work, is determined in associated equipment of the gauge.
