Programmable interface for Holter type apparatus for recording physiological signals, especially cardiac activity

Electrophysiological signals at the terminals (14) of an input terminal block or socket (12) are amplified (16), digitised, sampled and multiplexed (18) to a processor (20) driving a display (22) and a large memory (24). An additional socket or terminal block (26) has six terminals for positive and negative (e.g. 2.5 V) DC supplies (V+,V-), two digital inputs (D1,D2) and a mixed analogue/digital input (A/D3), and earth. The additional inputs feed a programmable logic array (28) having a bidirectional connection to the processor, from which control signals can be sent to an external system via the same terminals.
