PURPOSE: To pulverize a magnetic material of an alloy or intermetallic compd. until the state of single magnetic domain particles uniform in particle size is attained without leaving internal stress, to stabilize the surface of the resultant fine powder and to obtain a magnetic material having high magnetic characteristics and durability. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic material of an alloy or intermetallic compd., especially a rare earth metal-contg. intermetallic compd. such as Sm2 Fe17 Nx or Nd2 Fe14 B is pulverized with a ball mill in a surfactant added org. solvent, the surface of the resultant fine powder is stabilized by treatment with an organometallic compd., etc., and a magnetic material having superior magnetic characteristics and durability is produced. |
