<p>PURPOSE: To increase the carry and to stabilize the directivity of a shot ball through enhancement in the face rigidity of a faceplate by providing, between and integral with the opposite interior walls of a recess, a support portion that abuts to the back of the faceplate and is thinner than the edge of a back portion. CONSTITUTION: A through hole 29 is formed through a head main body 15 and covered with a faceplate whose specific gravity is smaller than that of the head main body 15, and a back portion 23 has a recess 25 formed therein except at its edge, and a support portion 27 that abuts to the back 33 of the faceplate and is thinner than the edge of the back portion 23 is provided integral with and between the opposite interior walls of the recess 25. As a result, although the support portion 27 is provided the weight of the head main body 15 is distributed to the edge because of the thin wall of the support portion 27, so that the moment of inertia increases. Therefore, when a golf club with the head attached thereto is swung, the head main body 15 is allowed to describe a precise trajectory by the moment of inertia without deviating when striking a ball, thereby increasing the carry and stabilizing the directivity of a shot ball.</p> |
