PURPOSE: To display a career till a certain time point during a surgery in real time and objectively and without disturbing the surgery to an operator by providing a means for replacing pixel value at a position on an image of a surgical tool converted by an image space coordinate converting means with another pixel value and displaying an image for the career of the surgery. CONSTITUTION: An operating part 8 for operating the value of an image space coordinate converts the value of coordinate concerning surgical tool 2 in an actual space into the value of coordinate in an image space and an image selecting part 9 selects an image corresponding to the value of coordinate in the image space from an image memory 13. In parallel with this, a pixel value operating part 11 operates a new pixel value to be replaced. An image synthesizing part 10 superimposes a pattern indicating the position of the surgical tool 2 on a position operated by the operating part 8 for operating the value of an image space coordinate on the image wherein the pixel value is replaced by a pixel value replacing part 12. When an operator commands to store the image of career, a career image storing part 15 reads out the images till that time from an image memory 13 and copies the image on an empty region on the image memory 13.
