Disclosed is a process for the removal of fatty alcohols from fatty alcoholic alkylpolyglycoside solutions by distillation with addition of fatty alcoholic suspensions of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide. The additions suppress undesired foamins or carrying over of alkylpolyglycoside in the fatty alcohol during the distillation.
