PURPOSE: To stably provide the weld metal of excellent toughness by achieving the laser welding using the prescribed atmospheric gas with the steel whose Pcm value and Ti content are specified as the base metal. CONSTITUTION: The steel whose Pcm value expressed by the formula is in the range of 0.05-0.20wt.% and containing Ti in the range of 0.01-0.50% is used as the base metal for the welding. The welding by the laser beam is executed with one kind of gas selected among Ar gas containing 1-10% O2 , He gas containing 1-10% O2 , Ar gas containing 5-50% CO2 , He gas containing 5-50% CO2 or the air as the atmospheric gas. It is preferable to use the filler wire of the same composition as that of the steel for the base metal for welding. |
