The adaptor (10) to give a holding action on optic fibre cables (12) at a splicing module or other connection, to resist draw forces on them, has a distortable laying surface for the optic fibres (12) passed through. The surface layer is of material of high friction coefficient. A retainer (14) is clamped to the laying surface layer for the optic fibres (12). The mass for the laying surface layer is of polyisobutylene, or a sprayed adhesive.
