BATTERY TEMPERATURE REGULATING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To efficiently charge a battery for use in an electric vehicle that runs on a road with its traveling motor driven by the battery. CONSTITUTION: A jacket 33 is placed near a battery 41, and the temperature of the battery 41 is adjusted by means of a radiator 11 or an electric heater 45 with a coolant 12 being supplied to the jacket 33, so that while the temperature of the battery 41 is held within a temperature range recommended during charging (e.g. 20 to 35 deg.C), the battery 41 is charged. Compared with conventional air cooling/heating techniques in which the temperature of the battery 41 being charged is regulated by forced hot or cold air, this method can surely keep the recommended temperature range and reduce the power consumed to about one third.
