The blanket, for the wet section of a papermaking machine, has a woven base (1) and a superimposed knitted structure (4), covered by a non-woven layer (7), with needle bonding to hold the layers together. The knitted layer (4) is a three-dimensional structure with two parallel knitted surfaces (41, 42) parallel to the base layer (1). The surfaces (41, 42) are joined by yarns (43) at right angles to them. Pref. the woven base layer (1) has warps (2) and wefts (3) of polyamide.
