<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive rotable connector with its simplified lock mechanism and its superior assembly. CONSTITUTION: A lock member 7 is integrally molded at a first housing 1 for single-sided support, a coil spring 8 is provided between the lock member 7 and a spring receiver part of the housing 1, and an engaging groove having an engaging wall on both ends of a peripheral direction is integrally molded at a second housing 2. In the manufacture step of a rotation connector, the lock member 7 is pressed, its free end is retracted from the engaging groove, free rotation between both housing is made possible, both housings are properly aligned in that status, the pressing force against the lock member 7 is eliminated, the free end of the lock member 7 is automatically restored in an engaging groove, and rotation between both housing is locked. When the rotation connector is incorporated into a steering device, a steering wheel is inserted into a steering shaft, a protrusion 7a of the lock member 7 is pressed on the bottom surface of the steering wheel, and the lock status between both the housings is automatically released.</p> |
