<p>PURPOSE: To protect the buffer of a decoder against overflow or underflow by controlling the output rate of reproduced signal. CONSTITUTION: A data selection circuit 2 extracts a select data from an input bit stream while a deletion unit detection circuit 3 detects the number of transmission units of non-select data. A mixing circuit 4 mixes the select data with information of the number of deletion units and records the mixture on a magnetic tape 6 through a recording circuit 5. A reproduction signal from a reproduction circuit 7 is separated through a data separation circuit 8 into the select data and the information of the number of deletion units. A pseudo transmission unit generation circuit 10 outputs a pseudo signal while a pseudo transmission unit insertion circuit 9 inserts pseudo signals of the number of transmission units, based on the information of the number of deletion units, into the select data before it is outputted. Since the output bit stream has same rate as the input bit stream for a predetermined time interval, the butter of decoder can be protected against overflow or underflow.</p> |
