The hydraulic tappet has a piston (2) which is longitudinally displaceable in a housing (1), both parts enclosing a pressure chamber (5) between them. The pressure chamber is connected via a check valve at the lower end of the piston with a pre-chamber (3) provided in the piston. The piston is prevented from sliding out of the housing by securing devices.In the housing a radial bore (14) is provided. A cylindrical or blunt-conical securing component (16) unreleasably or releasably is arranged in the bore. It engages radially in a recess (10) formed in the piston. The securing component is formed as a rivet or hollow rivet.
