Process for plasma pretreatment of polyolefin films

The prodn. of highly polar, scratch-resistant polyolefin film which is at least mon-axially oriented (I) comprises plasma pretreatment at 0.01-0.5 (pref. 0.03-0.42) mbar in an oxygen atmos. or non-metal oxide-contg. atmos. or a mixt. thereof with rare gas, using a Ti cathode and an a.c. or pulsed d.c. voltage of 400-800 (pref. 500-700) V. Pref. (I) is extruded and at least mono-axially stretched, and consists of one or more layers of one or more different polyolefins; pref. (I) is heat-sealable, biaxially oriented polypropylene (PP) film. The film has a heat-laminating layer 3-30 mu thick on the untreated side which can be bonded with cardboard or paper by heating and applying pressure.
