The steering column axial shock absorber comprises a telescopic assembly constituted by an internal tube (2) to slide inside an external tube (1). Imprints (3) are made on the internal face (4) of the external tube. The internal tube has a conical or stepped part which engages the imprints on the external tube internal face. Different characteristics of the imprints are chosen so that, in the case of axial shock, the axial energy absorption is effected by the transverse interference between the imprints and the internal tube, as a function of the axial displacement of the internal tube inside the external tube. |
