PURPOSE: To provide a compsn. for coating a steel pipe which has excellent hot water resistance and a percentage change in oxidation induction time (hereinafter abbreviated to 'OIT') after immersion in hot water for 30 days relative to the initial OIT of not more than±20%. CONSTITUTION: A compsn. for coating a steel pipe, comprising (A) 100 pts.wt. mixture of 5 to 95wt.% high-pressure, low-density polyethylene with 95 to 5wt.% liner polyethylene, (B) 0 to 30 pts.wt. ethylene/acetate vinyl copolymer, and (C) 0.05 to 0.5 pts.wt. hindered phenolic antioxidant having an m.p. of 200 deg.C or above and a mol.wt. of not less than 500.
