The support has fibrous reinforcing material (10) on at least its underside. It usually takes the form of a grid, and can withstand thrust and tension forces.The grid may have recesses, each in the shape of a square, rectangle, circle, rhombus or polygon, and an upper fabric material may be applied to increase its stiffness. It may be made from steel-reinforced concrete, steel, plastic, concrete, or fibre-reinforced concrete, and preferably from a mixture of airborne-ash. The edges of the grid may also be tapered conically, and the transmission and distribution of loads may be performed by elements which are non-corrosive.
